At last almost 5 years after Canon brought it's full frame DSLR to market, Nikon has announced a full frame DSLR camera of its own, D3. It is a 12 megapixel camera that can shoot 9 frames per second and sports a HUGE 3.0 inch monitor. There are other nice features like enhanced 3D Color Matrix Metering and live view shooting modes. Nikon has also announced D300 which is a consumer version (with still only DX frame sensor), which has similar features. Let's hope that in another year or so we will see a consumer grade full frame camera from Nikon. D3 is a professional camera, with support for 2 Compact Flash cards, and no built-in flash. D300 has a built-in flash but only support single CF card, and it also has a low pass filter to shake off any dust that can gather on the sensor, similar to Canon cameras. Other important features of the two cameras are comparable. The cameras will be available in November 2007.
